When people think about fireworks safety, they normally think about the distance between the fireworks and the audience.

But there’s another important area:

🌠 The fallout area.

When a firework bursts high in the sky, parts of the firework don’t simply disappear.

Components and lightweight debris eventually return to the ground.

That’s why professional display planning considers not only where the fireworks are positioned, but also where material could potentially fall.

Wind plays an important role.

Even a relatively light wind can carry smoke and lightweight debris away from the firing position.

This means the area downwind of the display can be just as important as the distance between the fireworks and the spectators.

Before a display, we’ll therefore consider things such as:

➡️ Wind direction
➡️ Surrounding buildings
➡️ Spectator locations
➡️ Roads and car parks
➡️ Trees and other obstructions
➡️ The type of fireworks being used

Conditions are then reassessed on the day of the display.

This is also why a site that works perfectly in one configuration may need to be laid out differently depending on where the audience is positioned.

There’s a lot more happening behind a professional display than simply pointing the fireworks towards the sky.

The planning on the ground is what allows everyone else to enjoy what’s happening above it.
