One of the first things we look at when planning a fireworks display is something the audience probably never thinks about:

Distance.

Fireworks need space.

There needs to be appropriate separation between the fireworks and spectators, but that’s only part of the picture.

A professional display site may include several different areas:

🎆 The firing area – where the fireworks and firing equipment are positioned.

🛑 The safety area – an area around the fireworks which members of the public shouldn’t enter.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 The spectator area – where the audience watches the display.

🌠 The fallout area – the area where debris from the fireworks may potentially return to the ground.

This is why a large-looking field isn’t automatically suitable for a fireworks display.

We also have to consider things such as:

• Buildings
• Roads
• Trees
• Overhead cables
• Car parks
• Livestock
• Public access
• Wind direction

The fireworks being used also matter.

Different products have different safety requirements, so the display has to be designed around the space actually available at the venue.

Sometimes that means changing the products or design rather than simply saying a display can’t happen.

That’s one of the reasons we look at the venue early in the planning process.

Because before we decide what goes into the sky…

We first need to know what’s on the ground.

Professional displays require a minimum 8-week lead time — early booking recommended.
