What Happens If It Rains During a Fireworks Display?

This one comes up a lot — particularly in Northern Ireland!

🌧️ “What happens if it rains?”

The good news is that ordinary rain doesn’t automatically mean your fireworks display is cancelled.

Professional displays are prepared with the weather in mind.

Equipment and fireworks are protected appropriately during setup and weather conditions are monitored leading up to the display.

In many cases, rain is more of an issue for the audience than it is for the fireworks!

Wind, however, can be much more important.

Wind direction and speed can affect where smoke and debris travel, so conditions have to remain safe for the location.

This is another reason why fireworks shouldn’t simply be set up anywhere.

The firing area, spectator position and surrounding environment all form part of the planning.

Weather conditions can change, so they are continually considered right up to the time of firing.

Nobody can guarantee perfect weather for an outdoor event in Northern Ireland.

But good planning means we’re prepared for the conditions we’re likely to face.

So if your wedding forecast shows a little rain…

Don’t panic just yet.

You might still get that spectacular fireworks finale you’ve been looking forward to.
